EuroISME Initiative : Towards a Code of Conduct for European Soldiers

On Tuesday 24 January 2017, a group of experts on military ethics met in Hamburg, Germany, to discuss the desirability of developing a code of ethics for the European military. Hosted by the zebis and invited by Euro-ISME, experts from Norway, Germany, France, the UK and The Netherlands observed that complicated issues need to be tackled in order to arrive at a European code.

European Award for Citizenship, Security and Defence 2016

In 2016 again, the International Society for Military Ethics in Europe (Euro-ISME) was the princial partner of the association “Civisme Défense Armées Nation” (CiDAN) for organising the European Award for Citizenship, Security and Defence. On 28 November 2016, the solemn Award Ceremony took place in the Embassy of the French Republic in Berlin. For the first time, the traditional pre-event reception of the partner country of the Berlin Security Conference" provided an unforgettable setting for the delivery of the trophies to the laureates.

Extension of deadline for the thesis prize

The jury of EuroISME’s prize for the best thesis on military ethics has extended the deadline by one month to November 30, 2016. The seven member jury is expecting submissions from various European countries. The jury expects that the extended deadline gives applicants sufficient time to prepare themselves properly. All submissions should, in accordance with the regulations of the prize, be sent to secretariat.ethicsprize@euroisme.eu
