The International Society for Military Ethics in Europe
Leadership. Ethics. Service.

On 28 and 29 April the Romanian Land Forces Academy in Sibiu hosted a conference on ‘Leadership and Ethics: Adapting Military Ethics to Modern Warfare’. The conference hosted speakers and panellists from the UK, USA, Canada, Belgium and Germany, as well as from the Romanian Armed Forces and academic institutions.

John Thomas, the President of Euro-ISME, was invited to deliver a keynote speech on the ethical challenges of the shift from out of area operations to collective defence.

The conference was a new venture for the Academy, which did a magnificent job in arranging the event and in assembling a stimulating and challenging programme which was focussed on practical applications of military ethics to contemporary problems.

Euro-ISME would like to congratulate the Academy and the co-organisers, the Romanian Ministry of Defence and the Romanian National Defence University for taking this bold step. Euro-ISME was delighted to be able to support the conference in this way and we look forward to working with our Romanian friends in the future.
