With this issue of the semi-annual e-journal, the Hamburg-based “Center for Ethical Education in the Armed Forces”, one of our first institutional members, would like to launch a targeted debate in preparation for the next EuroISME annual meeting in 2024 with the topic “What makes European military ethics distinctive?".

In March 2023, EuroISME conducted a workshop on the same issue at the Bundeswehr Center for Military History and Social Sciences and we now call on our members and friends - not only in Europe, but also across the Atlantic - to take part in the discussion about basic ethical questions in connection with the soldier's profession.

Renowned authors from various disciplines, from science and practice, from the military and politics introduce the topic in their essays and deepen individual aspects.
